Wave bye-bye to burgers! Dublin's favourite pie-makers have just opened their own shop the Epicurean Food Hall. Mmmm, pie ...
The Pie Kitchen
Venue: Epicurean Food Hall, Abbey Street
Those tireless campaigners for tasty, wholesome fast food at The Pie Kitchen have spent the last few years trying to rescue the reputation of the ultimate comfort food from amongst the mounds rubbery pastry and tasteless fillings of so many shop bought "pies". And it's been working - they've received rave reviews from food critics and hungry members of the public alike. They even nabbed themselves Gold and Silver awards at the "food Oscars" (the UK and Ireland Great Taste Awards).
Now they've made it even easier to track down their yummy gourmet snacks - by opening their very own pie-shop in The Epicurean Food Hall! The shop stocks their full range of delicious hand-made pies, with along with their legendary creamy mash, minty peas and other tasty extras.
And don't worry if you don't like, or can't eat pastry. You can still enjoy their yummy Nude Pies - stews with all the same great taste as the Pie Kitchen's fillings. And to seal the deal, all pies come with a side order of mash, peas and their very own red wine, onion gravy. And of course, they're all made with Irish meat (except the veggie pies, that is).
The current range of pies from the shop are:
• Steak and Stout
• Steak and Cheese
• Beef, Beer and Mushroom
• Wild Venison
• Lamb & Rosemary
• Irish Stew
• Chicken Chardonnay
• Chicken, Leek and Bacon
• Balti Chicken Curry
• Root Veg and Cheddar
• Roast Mediterranean Veg and Feta
They're always working on new recipes and looking for new ways to improve their pies, though, so keep your eyes peeled and your mouth watering, because by the time you've worked your way through this tasty lot, you're sure to have plenty more new and equally gorgeous fillings to choose from!
